The Weekend:
Barcelona, just saying the name makes you want to burst in to song! This great Catalan capital has become a top European tourist attraction. The 1992 Olympic Games showed what a flair for organisation the Catalans have, and they have carried this forward to all aspects of tourism. Luckily sporting tourism and particularly running have also been well featured. We offer several races to Barcelona during the year, but it is perhaps the Half Marathon that is set to become the most popular over time. Now here is your chance to join in.

The Race:
The Barcelona Half Marathon has had to take second place to the new Barcelona Marathon which was reborn in 2005. However it is a great race and looks set to become popular with local runners and foreign guests as it establishes itself.
The Course
The Barcelona Half Marathon route is a flat, fast course that takes in many of the City's sights. It can best be described as a figure of 8 - which is great for spectators and supporters. Starting at 9-00am it is still cool and the first 10 miles of the course are along many of the City's wide boulevards with shade from tall buildings a feature. The last 3 miles is along the coast road and then back in to the city to finish.
The following charities have groups running here:
Spectators and Supporters:
We know how important spectators and supporters are at these events. We provide a supporters package at no extra charge. We will advise where on the course are the most advantageous spectator positions, and how to get there easily and in time for the race. More often than not we will take you there and join you for a cup of coffee and have a few surprises planned whilst awaiting the first sight of the runners! All our hotels are comfortably furnished with TV and entertainment facilities - many have spas, pools and saunas too
Charity Runners:
'Running Crazy' are delighted to welcome runners who are raising sponsorship for registered charities. We know that the great feeling of accomplishment when completing the race, feels even better when you are helping others in to the bargain! See our Run for Charity link to choose a charity that you can help. Many charities listed there will provide special runners packs including sponsorship forms and tips, and also charity running vests. Just contact them with your details and tell them you intend to run with 'Running Crazy' on their behalf. In addition we will provide you with a 'Running Crazy' Certificate confirming your achievement and result, and also a special commemorative prize. Just specify the charity name in your 'Application'.
Accommodation:
'Running Crazy' have secured two or three hotels in the race start/finish area. Accommodation is on a bed and breakfast basis, and the hotels are a minimum of a good 3* (many are 4*). All hotels are located close to the Metro lines, which is good for your sightseeing days. We will provide guidance as to travel in Barcelona.
The Weather:
February in Barcelona over the past few years has proved to be a very mild climate.
Average Sunshine Hours per day: 8
Wet days in a month: 7
Average Temperature: 12 to 18 degrees Celsius
Entertainment
First and foremost as the Half Marathon race course is a 'figure of 8', you will be able to locate yourself at a nice pavement café to watch the start of the race, and see the runners pass at the 7 mile mark. Leisurely and entertaining morning for you!
Barcelona is a top tourist attraction - there is so much to do here. Part of the weekends events will automatically take in sights such as the 'Magic Fountains', the Palace at Montjuic, and 'Las Ramblas'. However there is the Gaudi architecture, the great 'Nou Camp' Football stadium, the unfinished 'Sagrada Familia' church and the non-stop non-finish night life. We know some of the best places and will be pleased to give you a suggested itinerary.
Groups:
Barcelona is a great City to share and is therefore ideal for Clubs or for Training Partners to get together. It may also make travelling more convenient and enjoyable.
There are discounts for larger groups (20+), but even a group of just 10 will qualify for an additional prize for the first or last to finish (you decide).
Prices
Our all inclusive prices are extremely competitive - from as little as just £149 for the weekend - we know we cannot be beaten on price - and our runners continually tell us that they receive so much more on a 'Running Crazy' weekend break. All our 'resort races' offer half board accommodation, and for our 'Big City' races we know all the best value places to eat, drink and have fun. Indeed we book these for our pre-race and after race gatherings, meaning groups and individuals can just sit back, relax, make new running pals and let us do any worrying. No tourist traps for our clients! We know these races and places inside out, and will advise on what to see and do over the weekend, provide directions and maps - all very useful when on a tight timescale. All you have to do is run!
Closing Date
6 weeks before the event, or sooner if "Sold Out" applied to Index page.
